Hi, I am just looking for rough estimates on how much it would cost to have the heads skimmed on Cosworth V6 Engine. Cheers Dan

Usually between £25-£40 per head. Over £40 would be expensive. Probably will be more if you TELL them (in other words..dont) they are Cosworth heads.....watch their greedy eyes light up! Just tell them they are Ford heads, they will probably know what they are anyway, but there's no point risking paying more for the sake of telling them they're off a Cossie. I'd have a ring round the engine shops near you and find the best deal you can get, or maybe another member can recommend somewhere near where you live. I see you're in Essex, so I reckon there's a good chance someone will. Good luck with it. Maybe you'll tell us what you are quoted as a reference for other members.

No idea on cost of Valve re-grinding. It would obviously depend on what state the valves, guides, etc were in, and if any needed replacement. You could ask for a quote to skim the head, and grind the valves and re-assemble the head for you. Make sure that if the heads are being skimmed that they remain within recommended tolerances. You don't want those pistons smashing your valves to pieces!! There's another recent post on here about just this! If they haven't been skimmed before you shouldn't have any problem though. Have a look HERE and HERE
