Central junction box? Fusebox?
« on: Nov 11th, 2006, 5:26pm »

My indicators are blowing the fuse again when indicating left.

I have checked the old stalk and that seems fine..

So It's in the wiring from the stalk somewhere..

The russian diagrams show a Central Junction box... Is that the fuse box? ( left/Right? )

How do you remove the fuseboxesHuh

Yeah, I find that confusing too. Unless the fusebox is being used as a busbar for the looms.

I'm with Taliban on this one. If it blows the fuse every time then you're most likely looking for a shorting loom. Have you tried removing the exterior bulbs and seeing if it still blows? Wouldn't be the first time a duff bulb has blown fuses...

If you can find the loom connection in the central fusebox multiplug when unplugged from the fusebox then you can eliminate one or the other, not sure what pins it uses though, never been there.

Central junction box is the main fusebox on the drivers side, not the battery side one.

Had the front and rear lamps out, did not try the repeater...

It worked fine for a week!! Been raining very heavy today...

I think the fusebox must be used as a buss for some obscure reason!

Well then, it's the age old question; are the fuseboxes dry?

Loom to the front cluster might be a favourite, gets all the spray from the road up behind the bumper...

So anyone know the removal procedure as I am probably going to have to do that to trace the fault anyway...

Simmo, I've never touched the fusebox on the Scorpio (yet Wink), but I'm thinking that if there's enough give in the looms underneath then TT can isolate the one for the indicators without ripping all the rest to bitsHuh

A good way I'm guessing to trace the plug would be to connect a multimeter from the fuse, try each socket's pins on the fusebox in turn and hope you strike gold Wink Then test the flasher loom itself for shorts.

Has anyone got any idea what multiplugs do whatHuh

Unfortunatly the rebuild guides don;t bother to tell you how to get it out in the first place... GREAT!!!

A guide to the plugs is realy needed.... And would be a HUGE help.

Things get stranger however..

With the Hazard and Ind fuses replaced, (15A btw.. )

Signaling right works.
Signaling left Blows fuse.
Hazards Blow fuse.
Flash on lock works ok....

So, I disconected the blue "Left" wire at the multiplug so I don't blow by accident...

Anyway..

I used a 10A fuse and powered up the left hand rear indicator straight from the battery, this worked fine... Fuse held..

So I connected the wire to the stalk left... and POP!! Car fuse blew again!

I am getting very confused now... Although I did not try the direct from battery  test with the ignition.. Next test I guess...

Does this not indicate !!!  Grin  that the fault lies in the actual switch itself?

No, it's been replaced and since checked with a meter.

Now a week after fitting the problem has returned ( spent  a week without using the indicators untill switch was replaced.
