Have I missed something important! You bet i have!

In a bored state started surfing about my Pipercross Viper kit and cleaning it etc, stumbled onto a thread about the crankcase breather pipe and changing its filter. Have I been silly just plugging my crankcase breather pipe stright into the top of my viper kit without fitting some sort of inline filter? Could this affect the idle of the car ie nasty stuff coming from the top of the engine and being fed straight back into the induction route for the car? Guy.

It's a must have, in my cossie the stdandard filter for the crackcase is made of a sponge. That thing melted away in engine oil, and all the vapors where getting on the airfilter, which was back as a black scorpio in a black night . Imagine that the mpg went up and power increase was huge !!!

Cheers, the in line filter should be here soon, i'm going to fit that clean my Viper kit,MAF really not confident about trying to clean throttle body so will leave that Will then see if my idle problems/poor mpg settle. Guy.

I am assuming that the filter is in the box containing the air filter, if so then mine had also "melted" so I replaced it with a bit of cut to size sponge. Never thought of trying to buy one. Should I have bought one? Mike

In fairness on the next visit they gave me a new idle valve gasket for free. Then again I had just bought the valve!

Have fitted the inline crankcase filter and cleaned the Viper kit. Running very well now. By the way, the way the viper is set up the crankcase pipe goes in after the filter So by my own stupidity/ignorance i've been pumping the rubbish going down the crankcase breather straight into the engine unfiltered for several months now Might give it a going over with 10k boost to give the innards a good clean out as god knows what its like Guy.
