Hi to all Cossie owners.
Quick question..... with the 12 spoke wheels and tyres is there any tendency to to over/under steer ?
I think that without power there is a tendency to oversteer, but you can go into a bend with slight understeer and use power to correct
Any one had these experiences ?

The weight balance is about 65% (if I remember rightly...) to the front, this would give understeer in the ideal world. But add the RWD setup and you get an amount of oversteer.
The Scorpio is a large car, wouldn't be able to match a Metro or Fiesta on tight corners and the suspension setup is more to comfort too, it's made for long distance high speed motorway driving, not housing estate chicanes  .
I found my 2.3 very stable, admitted it doesn't have the power of the cossie but give it some loud pedal at roundabout exits and it can march on, never had any stability problems at all

hey,
it depends how hard u press the accelerator, mine tends to under steer but i put that to the cheep tyres it's got on atm, u get a bit heavey footed though and u'll be looking out the side windows to see where you are going lol 
it really depends on the conditon of the car and what tyres are on it, and the road conditions. a car with failing wishbone or steering bushes/componants will understeer as the is more flex in the steering and suspension.

I find the 24v with 215/45r17s and lowered sport springs very predictable & progressive, quite neutral. the other 24v is on the standard 16"tyres & std springs tends to wallow & will over steer more. the 2.3 estate is on 195/65r15 and standard suspension, again seems predictable but wih noticably lower levels of grip, quite easy to 'drift' round fast B road bends, will oversteer in wet.
