HI all Just read some excellent instructions on Changing bulbs. It says you have to change the whole switch if the bulb has failed. It does say if anyone knows different email scorpio@ilme.net Did Scorpio ever get an email or is it the whole switch that needs to be replaced.....like the heated seat ones ! Merry Christmas Tony

Hi Tony, As far as i am aware its the whole switch. I only changed my front and rear heated switches last week, managed to pick them both up from the local breakers yard. They only charged me £2 for them both, so not worth looking into changing the bulbs really. Merry Christmas to you too. John

Hello Tony. I did both of my heated window switches, they're not designed to be pulled to bits but can be persuaded if you have some small tools. As I remember (over a year since I did them), the base of the switch with the contacts comes off, as I remember you need to pull the button out from the front before you pull it to bits (it unclips). There's about 4 or 6 lugs where the base is held to the switch, need to carefully bend the sides out to free the lugs and remove the base. Quite tricky to get them apart but you can replace the bulb inside with a LED (I used a 12v 5mm green, got the part number here somewhere...), takes a bit of cunning to get the leads bent in the right places but with a soldering iron and a bit of patience it can be done... I spend my spare time restoring old hifi where the signal switch parts are made out of silver or gold and get very dirty, replacements cost a small fortune even if still available, my philosophy is if it was put together in the first place, there must be a way to get it apart... Regards and merry christmas Bruce.

Yes you can replace the bulb. I put a message on here about it a couple of years ago but can't find the thread now. As TiberiuS says, you prise the bottom off the switch and you will find a small bulb soldered in via fly leads. It's the sort of 12V bulb you find on toys and models etc with thin wire leads. The bulb is clear glass but has a blue "condom" over it. I desoldered the old bulb and fitted a new one, then put the blue cover on the new bulb. Good as new. I posted a picture back then which I found is still there: http://www.mtechs.co.uk/switch.jpg Of course you could also use an LED with a series resistor, similar to the yellow "power indicator" in the switch. Merry Christmas all!

Yeah, it's fiddly but it's possible to replace most of the illuminated switch bulbs/LEDs. I've done the heated seat switches, front and rear window heater switches, the electric seat memory unit and the trip computer buttons. A set of these tiny screwdrivers is a must.
