Hi all, hopefully jus a quick-un...

I removed a heated seat element from a scrapper scorp (from the base part) only i cant remember whether it went just below the leather on top of the cushion, or below the cushion right at the bottom?

For a little mod i'm in the middle off  Wink

Thanks,

Matt

Headed rear seats sounds like a fine idea CheesyCheesy, i under stand how it would be possible to heat them, but how do you get them to recline? do they come forward then dissapear into the boot?

Magic!!

Has anyone actually made the back seats heated before? I'm still thinking of the best place to put the 2 switches so they look neat, i was originally gonna heat the middle seat too but the arm rest complicates things and i cant be bothered to dismantle it!

Seriously, does anyone know if it goes above or below the foam part...

You could put the switches in the rear of the centre console. It's the same as the Granada console which had room for rear heating controls there, so there should be lashings of room and they would be accessible for the driver(just about) to switch off. Locatated there, it would be easy to wire through to a couple of LED warning lights further forward in the console where the driver can see them.

I would guess that the heating pads need to be above the foam just under the leather - under the foam they would take forever to get the heat through to your bum.

Cheers, i thought it was above the foam like the back bit but just wanted to be doubly sure  Smiley

I had actually thought of putting the switches in the centre console, i measured them up and i could do it if i bent the connectors on the bottom of the switches, which not ideal would work. There was also the issue of the cassette/cd holder i have in the arm rest getting in the way. After a drink or 2 tomorrow eve i'm sure it'll all become clear how to do it...  Wink

Matt

p.s. would anyone be interested if i were to take some piccies of it all in progress?

Well, thought i'd have a quick go at taking the cushion apart, only i've hit my first problem.

Took the cushion and cover off the metal base ok, only i've found that there is a set of hog rings holding the leather to the cushion going from left to right (as in drivers to passenger side) which gives the centre of the left and right part of the seat (where one plonks their posterior) its shape.

If i were to put the element straight below the cover then i wouldn't be able to pierce the heated element as the wires inside are fairly close, i could just leave out the centre hog rings but the seat would lose it shape Undecided Hopefully i havn't lost you with my vague description...

Seeing as i have the beigey leather which parts for are fairly hard to find, to save ruining it i'm gonna have a practice on a spare black leather base i have during the week and see what would and wouldn't work regarding positioning the elements.
