Not Head gasket......phew !

Hi all

Well, my usual garage did a great job. They have a test pack think that tests the air in the cooling system header tank for gas content. If it's there it turns yellow, if it's not it stays blue. It stayed blue.

So we let the car get warm then hot and they found some small leaks in the rad that they say must be expanding under pressure and then we saw them leaking as steam.

So in went a pot of radweld for alloy heads and low and behold..... problem solved.

Whoopppeee, I've got a warm car again.

Thanks to all for your help, advice and suggestions.

Best Regards

Tony

i doubt rad weld will solve your problems, the cossie's cooling system runs at a very high pressure. ive just had mine go, had a new matrix fitted , proper 4 core with central brace, for £130... they offered me a 3 core for a £10 less but couldnt promise it would hold out due to the pressure

Matt,

I wouldn't mind the details of the place you had yours done if you wouldn't mind, got a place in Scotland as an option but wouldn't hurt to have another to look at - getting a bit desperate now!

Cheers

they advise you to remove the drain plug and the T bolts that hold the fans on

thats a brand new 42mm 4 core matrix, and they were able to reuse the plastic parts - £131.60
