Hi The MT75 gearboxes is very different from the T9 gearboxes, because you can't change the bellyhousting. Which different bellyhousting exist on the MT75 Gearboxes? Happy New Year Bjørn Tore from Norway

Bjørn welcome, As far as I know the MT75 on the Scorpio is common across the 95> range of 8 & 16 valves and diesels according to this http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/mt75.htm . You may also find this helpful https://www.burtonpower.com/default.aspx?/technical/tt_mt75.html I suspect the transit has a different bell housing and I notice that you also have a Sierra and XR4x4 which I thought also had the MT75, does their bell housing differ dramatically? Happy New Year in Norway!

The Transit MT75s have a diferent construction than the 'car' MT75s... a much bigger bell housing, the gear lever in a different position, almost a totally different beastie....! The 'car' MT75s have the DOHC/Diesel front, or the 4X4 Granada front, but the same rear casing. I hope this makes (some) sense... Cheers

What is it you want to do? the front casings will ALL swap (car boxs) though input shaft lengths & ratios differ in v6/4pots boxs, scorpio boxs had mountings for concentric bearing

Geoff_W: My sierra 1.8td have a T9 box and My xr4x4 have a T9 4x4box. hellblue: My dream is a 2.5VM Diesel with 4x4, but I guess the engine oilsump will be to tricky to modify. Right now I think to put a 2.5VM diesel into my Sierra. I will maybe need another gearbox if it's not possible to replace the hydraulic clutchrealisingarm withone for clutchcable. I will also need to change the speedometercabledrive in the gearbox. Best Regards Bjørn Tore

Unless you have a thing for diesels why not dream a bit bigger!!,2.9 v6 cosworth granada engine with 4x4 into sierra is very do~able,as the sump on the diesel will be the big problem!!

It's because I just like dieselengine It is a car that I will drive around 60 000km (37500miles) each year, so a diesel engine would be perfect for that car. Less fuel costs, a rehaible engine that can live 300 000miles, and maybe less service costs. I'm also planing a Cosworth 24v project, but then I will need turbo, because all my 5 other cars have turbo. The older Sierras used a type N gearbox on the 2.0 and a type B on the very early 1.6 (later 1.6 used N). I believe Ford changed to the MT75 on the 2.0 when they fitted the DOHC engine (around 1990), though I don't know if this also fits the CVH 1.8 and later 1.6 engines or the 1.8D. I would guess that the gearbox from a Sierra 2.0 4x4 (yes they did exist but are rare) with the bellhousing from the diesel MT75 would be the way to go. Alternatively a late model 4x4 Granada may also use the MT75, but again, you'll need to swap the bellhousing for one from a diesel. Of course, you still have the problem of the sump and the Scorpio front suspension is different to the Granada and Sierra so it won't be easy... Darren
