The engine management on mine at least is one of the two alloy cased unit stashed in behind the glovebox. The second unit is I assume the ABS controller. It is held in place by a rather tight black plastic clamp, that sort of pops off. Drop the glovebox down, undo the two hinged stays at each side where they attach to the drop down bit with a couple of metal clips - then you should be able to see the ECU right at the back. I think the bumber will be identical and that they are fixed by four (2 each side) torx bolts. Look up at the chassis from below.

The saloon and estate bumpers are different The ABS controller is in the engine bay below the coolant expansion tank The key barrels will fit either side and the central locking wil still work but if you are replacing it anyway why not get the kit and make it the right key

Kev, The unit is,as Harry says in the compartment behind the glovebox and the other one is,I believe the PATS module. One of these at least is held in by rivets which need to be CAREFULLY drilled out to release it.There was a post on this recently.
