Hi guys, unfortunately I'm from Germany and while my English is quite good, I just realized that I am not familiat with all technical terms, but for my question it is sufficent : Is it possible to exchange the automatic gearbox for a manual one on my 98 Scorpio Ghia 2,5 TD and has anyone done such thing before? Thanks, Tim

This has been talked about with petrol engines so diesel would be much the same,a scrap diesel manual would give you all the bits ie, box, pedals, prop, ect. dont forget the spigot bush,or just buy a manual??

It's a horrendous amount of work, would it not be better to find a good replacement auto box ?

If you can get a pre-'96 diesel Scorpio then these all had manual gearboxes will provide you with all the bits you need. However, the newer diesel that you have has electronic control of the gearbox and this is integrated into the engine management so you will need to either replace it with one from a post '96 manual diesel or trick some of the sensor inputs to the ECU.
