you should get all the keys they have for the car, mine have a little red square try all keys before you buy also make sure they give you the remote fob if they have one, also make sure the battery and fuse box have there cover, you should also look at the buying guide on this site if the car is good they wont mind you asking lots of questions and I recommend what ever car you buy get your local mechanic to check the car over this might cost you a bit but could save you hundreds in the long run, take his advise on price and also walk away if he advices this theres always another car out there hope all works out David

Hi,when I bought mine I got 2 ordinary black keys and the red Master key, this key you MUST get with the car.If you get a remote fob so much the better but these can always be picked up on the likes of ebay.Roy.

In order o priority:- 1x Red key 2x Black keys with a red insert 2x remotes The red key is needed to allow any black key you may buy, to be programmed to work. The Scorp work with 3x remotes, but I think it was supplied with 2x. They cost £70 to £110 from Ford, a little cheaper if you can find them on ebay _ but note the remote is unique to the Scorp. Nothing else will work, unless they were made for the Scorp. The Scorp can be programmed to accept any proper Scorp remote, by using any red or black key. Oh, and it is useful to ensure you also get the four digit code for the radio too, but not essential.

If your remote stops working you can still unlock the car and start it with your black key. The problem will occur if you lose your only key or, for some reason, the car "forgets" this key. The red key is only used to program other keys

| If you don't have the red key you will try to be careful not to loose your keys....up to you, but what about the other choise you gave, the car forgets the keys. Is there anything you can do? How about your Ford dealer?

I am not sure about that. Whether a good locksmith/auto specialist as in the topic above could do anything with a system with no keys available or whether it would have to go to Ford - not sure!

Having made the mistake a few years ago of gradually losing all my keys apart from a single black one and then double locking the keys into the boot......... I'm sure you get the rest!! I now have 2 x red keys. 3 x balck keys. 2 x torch keys. The "T" Bar key which comes with the car with the key number on it.... AND a credit card key which sits in my wallet at all times waiting for me to lock the keys in the boot again!

I had the main torch key (useless but priceless ), black spare, red master and the fob with mine, as far as I know this is what it came with (same on Mondeo...)

| You can Matt. Also have a look at the link above in my earlier post, there are people who can come out to you and sort a new key!

Our recent 95 Cossie Ultima purchase (we're the second owners) came with 1 X Red Key 2 X "Light Keys" one with red insert, one with orange insert, red key is larger than orange key (?) 2 X Remote controls. Sounds as though we were very lucky Regards DH Dove
