2.5td chip?

Hi. i have a 2.5td VM engine 1995 year modell. Is it possible to get more power out of that engine with a chip? Who sell chip to that engine? Cheers Bjørn Tore

The diesel engine was upgraded in September 96 giving it a bit more power and torque but I dont know how that was done, maybe you can upgrade it to that spec. I think you can play about with pumps etc to give it better performance but lose mpg and emissions! I dont think you will get a chip for it though.. Mine has the odd chip that doesnt get filtered out of the veggie oil

Pre 1996 the VM 2.5TD is all mechanically controlled (apart from one solenoid to alter the timing) so if you want to get more power out of that it will involve adjustments on the injection pump or the turbo wastegate. 1996 onwards (roughly) had revised fuel system which featured an electronically controlled injection pump and turbo, and a totally different ECU - these are the only ones which have the possibility of being chipped. Bear in mind the VM diesel was no ball of fire, especially not in such a heavy car, but you can give it a bit more poke at the possible expense of slightly higher emissions/worse economy - details on adjusting the fuelling, etc. have been given in this very forum previously (though several months ago, between June and September last year IIRC)...
