Hi im new to the forum, and i need some help. ive always wanted to get stuck into a project, and i like the scorpios for there rwd so i was wondering if anybody could help me with running gear pictures and how they are positioned .etc ohh im planning on fitting this to my escort mk6 in the next couple of months. dont hate me for planing on chopping one up im saving the running gear form the trip to the scrappy/brakers. the strut towers look the same as mine, and i think the mt75 box will mate up to my 2.0 zetec engine because it has the 2.3 I4 lump in which is the same engine on the rs2k escorts minus 300cc. is the clutch size 240mm? any info would be great thanks. regards martin.

not an easy job that one, I have converted a few fwd escorts to rwd for rallying. front inner wings arent up to it, will have to convers to something like escort mk2, add chassis rails so you can use a proper cross member, alter bulkhead for transmission tunnel, add a transmission tunnel, tunnel for rear axle & suspension mtgs, thats just off the top of my head, used to take us about 40hrs welding on a bare shell to convert to rwd spec, thats with all the panel work allready cut out / bent. then it all needs fitting out.

ahh rite, thanks for the reply martin (same name as me) , could i use the standard front strut towers just reinforce them a bit more posibly add a custom strutbrace too, and modify the chassis rails at the front to fit the scorpio crossmember, then i can chop and weld my way back 40 hours of welding you say.. it will more likely take me 400hours does any one have a picture of a scorpio crossmember and rear suspension set up, all i can find is diagrams , and i just wanted to compare the crossmember to the escort fwd one too see how far the steering rack etc would go.

its all a lot wider than an escort, there are no chassis rails at the bottom of the inner wings on fwd escort, the original turrets are not designed for the stress / weight of the running gear. as for the rear s/frame, again too wide, could modify to take escort cos rear end, easier to have 'live' axle, coil overs, panhard rod & radius arms.
