Three questions - hopefully simple

Hi, I have three questions: 1. If a part has a dab of yellow paint on it, what does this mean? 2. When doing my cv joints yesterday I unhooked the Evap cannister but when I went to replace it, I noticed one of it's pipes was open ended and I couldn't see where it had come detached from. Any ideas or is it meant to be like this? 3. And finally, any tips for removing the flexible brake pipe hose from it's mounting on the rear body of the car. (see item 5 in http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/suspension/RearRSpring.pdf). It seems a simple thing but I'm not clear on how to do it and I dont want to bust it. Thanks Mike

Could be wrong but i think the yellow paint signifies factory set on production. As every engine has it's own little differences the yellow paint signifies where your engine part was set to. Is it on adjustable things like screws etc? As I say only a guess but sounds reasonable. Guy.

Mike, Some breakers yards put small dabs of paint on replacement parts, that they have sold.

I was puzzled by the yellow paint. In this case, it's on the rear road springs I'm about to replace. I got the car at 60k miles so I'd be surprised if they'd been replaced. My feeling, like Johnboy, is that they're from a breaker's; the drive-shafts I just got from a breaker's has it. So what about point 3. That's the one I'm most interested in as I need release the brake pipes to change the afore-said springs. They seem to have a nut on both sides. Not sure which one I'm supposed to undo. Thanks Mike
