I'm I the procese of cleaning the IACV (again), in the hope that it will stop playing up. Just a quick question that needs answering though.... .....On top of the IACV is a round cover/cap. I have removed it & underneath is a small chamber filled with 4 round discs of padding. The chamber isn't separated from the valve body as the carb cleaner went right through. Does anyone know what the chamber is for, & why it has padding in it ?

JC, The diagrams of the IACV are HERE. The top one is as fitted to the 2ltr and the lower one is ,I thought, as fitted to the 2.3. Remember I mentioned this in an earlier post. Have you by any chance got the wrong one on yours?. . If you look at the drawings the second one has two screws to enable the solenoid to be separated from the valve and somewhere on the site is a coloured diagram of it. You cannot separate the solenoid on the first unit. Mike

I have the top one fitted, & as far as I know, it is the correct one. Surely the bottom one would have a different fitting .......the plot thickens P.S...I realise that the valve & solenoid can't be separated....this was evident when I removed it
