I don't have either, neither does my original owner's manual mention it like the manual on this great site does. Was this a feature that was added from a certain date of production? I have a 95 model 2.0 16V. Neither do I have lights flashing when dbl locking, etc (but I've already read the lengthy thread about the CCM and whatnot). I am guessing that my car was so early in production that it lacks all of the other bells and whistles that later models got equipped with... I don't have the one touch driver's window close (one touch open works fine), despite trying the 'hold the close button down for 3 seconds (or more) when window is closed' trick. However, I've found that unlocking with the key in the driver's door does not trigger the internal lights on (although unlocking with the key in the passenger's door does). The driver's lock seems to want to keep the key for a second on lock or unlock before letting me have it back (sticky ~ doesn't spring back to the neutral position from lock or unlock) - could that be a source of the lack of functionality? My Sept. 96 2.0lt 16v Ultima model has all the functions your car hasn't, except the flash on double locking. Some posters have indicated the possibility of re-programming the on- board computer to enable these options but my local FMD chappie says this is a flight of pure fancy. ( mind you, he's the trained Ford technician who once assured me the 2 lt Scorpio needed the cam belt replaced every 40K miles, so that shows his scant familiarity with the model ! )

Hello Matt. If you've got a sticky lock, pump it full of WD40 or similar and see if it helps your problem My '96 2.3 had all the features including the flash on double lock, is yours an Ultima? Regards, Bruce .

Hi Bruce, I assumed its an Ultima as it was sold to me as such and it has the full kit. Are there Scorpios that aren't Ultimas (apart from the previous Granada Scorpios of-course). I tried the WD40 trick last night but no joy, I think I'll have to take the panel off. Lots of pinickety things with this car, annoying since it has only done 73000 miles, but each thing overcome makes it more enjoyable I guess. I tried a replacement CCM yesterday but that was no different, it was sold to me as being from a 98 model, but I really doubt it since its inspection sticker states '95. That's typical of eBay though Matt.

My Jan 95 2.0 Nov 2004 build has neither global open and close or one touch close. I am guessing that the early build did not have a complete electrical spec. Geoff

| Crikey, I never knew that! But it is the Ultima, just checked the V5 to be sure. Would changing the CCM to a later issue introduce things like flash on lock and global open/close? I'm wondering in what year those things were introduced though. Thanks for the advice

hi there some of the very early cars had a global locking issue and was disabled by ford. think it overloaded something when in use, but can't remember exactly. hth

Mine is a 24v Ultima and has the global closing but nothing flash wise.It was first registered 19/01/1996.Something else,I do not have heated seats or headlamp washers,were these fitted as standard or as an option.Roy

Alas, just changing the CCM will not give you global closing, though it may give you flash on deadlock. The reason you can't get global closing is because the early cars were wired as per any other car with electric windows, whereas the later (around '96 on) models had a 'black box' in each of the front doors - plus one for the electric seats and mirrors - which accepted a signal from the CCM (which handles the central locking as well as alarm) and operated the glasswork as instructed. The early models simply do not have the modules needed. I suppose it is possible to add the modules yourself, after all, the window motors are the same as far as the electronics are concerned. However, you'd probably have to create the wiring between them and the CCM and there's no guarantee the early CCM will have the firmware required to operate the modules. Still, some early CCMs did have problems with them 'forgetting' the remote and needing to be reprogrammed every so often, be that once a month or every day. Strictly speaking, they don't forget the remote, they just need resetting. If you unplug the RH connector to remove power to the CCM and then plug it back in, the remote starts working without having to be reprogrammed! Looks like there were firmware bugs in the early CCM; certainly they don't seem to offer the same features as the later ones, so it may well be worth changing the CCM anyway - just not to get global closing... Late '95 and definately an Ultima. Global open and close worked on the original CCM, but not the flash. The global and double locking did not originally work due to a problem with the lock switch. The switch contact needs to be good and the switch held in the lock position for a good while, for the global close to work - perhaps longer than you would expect. Similarly with the open. So if you lack this feature - try cleaning up the contacts, especially as you also seem to lack the interior lights coming on. I picked up a CCM from a P reg, which added the flash on double lock and flash on the alarm being triggered. I have one touch window open, but so far as I have been able to tell - not the one touch close (yet). I have not persisted with this feature, so it may well be there and need setting up. [re-edit] definately does not have it. I have not checked, but I feel certain my car must have the door black boxes sector-9 mentioned.

Thanks for the help guys. Keeping my eyes open for a CCM. As a matter of interest, I was cleaning the sunroof relay and noticed that the wiring for the global opening and closing circuit had been cut right down to the contacts. So I guess the facility was built in around 95 but removed for the reason put above (re: there was an electrical issue).

Hi, my 96 24v did not flash the indicators on locking, double locking or unlocking either with the key or the remote. A trip to the Ford dealer followed and after parting with the 1 hour diagnostic charge it now flashes once on lock, unlock and boot open, and flashes twice on double lock. Cheers

Standards and Scorpios My 24v Ultima (built Dec 94, first registered Jan 05) didn't have any of the global opening/closing stuff. There are modules in the front doors even on early ones and you can swap them from a later car - I did. I once had all the relevant part numbers written on a bit of paper but chances of finding that now are slim. The only missing wires are at the sunroof - my loom has 3 cables, not 5 like the later ones do (from memory). Otherwise, one touch up and down both work and I've got Steve Collister's mod fitted to make it all work off the remote. The sunroof isn't part of it but I've got used to that HTH, Dave ps. Mine doesn't have heated seats either - suits me, don't like them
