Diesel air induction/fuel injection questions

A few questions folks and folkesses: 1) Cheap and easy way of measuring manifold pressure on an early TDi? Also what's the max specced pressure the turbo should generate and at what revs? I might want to tinker with the wastegate rod length as the turbo boost feels rather weedy and is hardly noticeable. 2) What should the EGR valve be doing at idle? If I rotate the TPS slightly I can make it either open wide, close or flutter somewhere between - OR, what voltage should be output from the TPS with the throttle closed (EEC-IV)? Does the diesel benefit from better economy or power with the EGR disconnected? 3) Initial setting of the toothed wheel under the boost pressure diaphragm (e.g. height from top of shaft)? Much as I like my scorp, it's economy is barely better than an early TDi Discovery and it feels less torquey than much smaller engines so I'd like to either get it sorted or get rid... Darren

2) I believe it should be closed and open up during light throttle, and close again on WOT. (Iirc, this is the way it works on petrol engines atleast)
