2.0 inlet manifold on a 2.3 ?

Just a thought...

The new (secondhand) inlet manifold that I've fitted is fine. But incase I should get anymore grief in the future, I was wondering.......

..............If the 2.0 inlet manifold was fitted to the 2.3, what differences would be felt in perfomance etc ? & do all the pipes EGR etc fit the same way ?  Smiley

hey jonnycab,

the egr is the same, but the coolant and vaccume pipes are diffrent/ need to be modified.

you'll need to 'T' one of the vaccume pipes as there isnt enough outlets on the 2.0 intake. the trickest parts are getting the block oil breather to fit and then theres 2 vaccume pipes which fit under the intake.

throttal cable swaps straigh over and all the air intake stuff does aswell.

the 2.3 has a single 60mm throttal body

the 2.0 has two 50mm throttal bodies, so it'll suck in a bit more air.

i used the 2.3 maff and the other little sensor that fits in one of the intake pipes (for get whats thats called :S)

you will also need to change the idle controll valve to one that has the plug 90 degress to it otherwise the plug will hit the bonet. you'll also need to extend the wireing

Cheers guys...good advice  Smiley

Matt........If it comes down to it & I do decide to put the 2.0 manifold on, then I hope you don't mind a few PMs  Wink

P.S.....Matt...was there any noticable difference in using the 2.0 manifold...  ie....was MPG/performance better or worse.
I'm wondering whether Ford may have made a major 'faux pas' in putting that fancy looking piece of plastic on the 2.3 when the reliable 2.0 cast metal one would have been as good...if not better ?

jonnycab,

i dont mind a few pm's, were on here to help each other  Tongue

as for the mpg value, i dont know, i bought the car with a cracked head so couldnt drive it round, and havent experienced a 'standard' 2.3 to compair. having a slightly bigger air intake i would of though it would be a bit more powerful. it does go well, me and my dad have a heavy aright foot which doesnt help the mpg values lol but it will get to a 70mph (+30mph :p) pretty quickly  Wink

didnt take any pics of during the conversion sadly (sorry guys) but heres 2 of the finished result

i took the rocker cover and the cam chain cover to work and sand blasted them, hence they look so clean Grin

i'll go through the pdf manuals on the main site and try and do a conversion guide or at least give you some idea of the piping up
