Hello to everyone being always had a granada i now got myself a 1996 P reg 2.3 cc i got it 2 weeks ago and have found i have aproblem concerning the ignition key (which I only have one) is difficult to turn and now cant turn it to start the engine at all. I have brought the entire steering column (second hand) with ign lock ass attached, with immobiliser ring and a unit with fits under dash. I have been told it the PATS unit. Can I instal all or will it have to be programmed at Fords for the PATS? I have also been told to disconnect the battery poir removing the air bag. your conments are very welcome cheers Rob

Read THIS,and rebuild the lock to suit your key. If you have a spare lock on the 'new' column remove the barrel, rebuild it and then simply swap the barrels over. No need to touch the air bag.

if you do touch the air bag make sure the battery has been disconnected for at least 15 minutes before doing so......an exploding air bag hitting you while not in the seated position will break your arm........

Thanks for your advice and will be trying to change the locks over, don't really want to touch the air bag.

well got the old girl back on the road this is what we have to do.. took the upper and lower cowlings off removed both wiper/light switches removed the wiring connector plug off the ign switch managed to turn the key to position one by turning other end with pliers. removed barrel and key and replaced with secondhand unit (barrel and key) replace plug to ign switch and switches (lights/wipers) removed the immobilizer ring and placed the old ign key inside the ring (cable tie) and placed out of the way under dash replace cowlings and check - started fine note did remove battery lead while carrying out this job. my next job is to put in my nokia hands free, but where to put it well that's a job for next weekend. thanks for your replies cheers for now
