How do I know if I have a limited slip diff in my S reg Ultima estate?
I ask cause I want to check and top up diff oil if required.
Standard diffs usually take Hypoid but what if its a LSD?
Is there a standard grade of oil for both??
Trying to borrom out the rear rumble in the car.

hi there

i'm 99.0% sure you don't have a lsd. some cars have traction control instead.

Standard LSD diff was dropped from the cossies on the change from Scorpio Granada to Scorpio.

BOB only came with option trac. control IIRC, never heard of an LSD being used later than 93 (L)

Well I have traction control and cruise and  self levelling etc all singing and dancing. So no LSD then I can use Hypoid EP80w/90 (G5)oil in the diff ?
Does this stuff degrade over time or distance?

Self levelling was standard on the estate I believe Wink

Normally depends if the diff is making any noiuse - if the oil's gone or degraded you normally know from the amount of heat and awful whine soon enough Wink

No known fault with the diff, just trying to sort out all the cheaper options to rid myself of this annoying intermittant minor vibration at certain speeds.
Also a good excuse to check all the fluids seeing as I have only had this car a month.
