Draught from air vents

While I was replacing the bulb in my clock with led's I decided to take a closer look at my air vents to see if I could find why I had a constant draught. It would appear that when new the flaps within the vent did have a foam seal protruding over the edge. This first picture shows where the foam has deteriated and there is an obvious gap highlited in pink To remove the flap it is a simple case of gently levering the arm away from the flap. the arm is attached to the spindle that the flap pivots on. As I removed the flap from the coweling the rest of the foam seal just crumbled away. After scraping the remanents of old foam off the flap I used a hot glue gun to glue on a new piece. I found it easier to make the new foam slightly to big and then use a process of fitting, removing and trimming untill the fit was just right. Here is the finished article with a new snug fitting piece of foam. when I got it all back in the dash no more nasty draught.

I could put up with it when cruising at altitude, it was when dive bombing I found my hands getting a bit chilly
