I flushed mine well enough to get some heat through to see out the winter. Flushed it both ways and now heat is reasonable.
Rather than changing the matrix, i would go for some form of domestic solution to try to melt out the blockage and then re-flush.
Matrix replacement would be a LAST resort.
(Unless of course it was blown)

Agree Agree Agree ah sorry mate didnt realise you meant it was blocked.  I recently bought a 2.9 v6 but it had no heating at all apart from cold air.  I did what they said on this site.  Drained out the system completely and refilled adding a good rad flush and ran it till hot again or for around 15 min.  Then again drained the system, i disconected the two pipes leading to the heater matrix and pushed a hose with the jet end on and left it to run for aprox 5 min, the crap that came out was amazing, i then reversed it buy flushing water into the other pipe, the flushed the main pipes going into the rad and water pump. Took around an hour in total, then refilled with a good coolant, i think its 50% water, 50% coolant, at first the heater was still cold, then after about 10 min i got red hot air. been great ever since

Could someone put a link to the flushing page, i got the dreaded curry smell. And what you mean by domestic solution to 'melt' out the blockage?

Confused.

By domestic solution, then something like Mr Muscle scale remover or similar product can be used in trying to clear the matrix, but make sure it isn't harmful to aluminium, as this is what the matrix is made of  Smiley

If you have a curry smell, then you probably have a leak in the matrix, which means it will probably have to be replaced anyway  Undecided
