Right, Just been on my private high speed track and got the following results: MPH (indicated) RPM 70 3800 80 4400 90 5000 100 5500 Should the 2.0 16v engine be revving at these levels at these speeds (O/D not switched off)

hi there they seem high, but are you cruising at those speeds? ie, back off the throttle. it won't change up into '4th' if your throttle is nearly wide open. hth

It looks as though is not going into 4th/OD with those revs try doing the same speed but with 3rd gear manually engaged. I would have thought it should be doing about 3000 rpm at 70

Firstly how would I manually engage 3rd. Is this just a case of turning the O/D off (Dash lamp on). Secondally I'm not getting any flashes from the O/D lamp, the lamp illuminates (switching O/D off) when I push the shifters button, and goes out on the second push of the button. I sort of raised this issue a few days ago on another thread. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action= display;num=1173956955 Basically I had a P1761 set (Shift Solenoid #3 functional fault) but after changing this part the fault remains. The more I read into this, the more I thinking new box
