speedo not working

Possibly the vehicle speed sensor. Go to THIS page and scroll down to the relevant section. This page shows you where it is etc.

How are your gearchanges? (assuming its an auto).
If the VSS packs up, gearchanges will be dramatically effected, especially kick down.
