'ALARM' flashing on radio dislpay

Last night I was sitting in my car with the engine off & listening to the radio.

All of a sudden the volume shot up to '12' & the LCD started flashing the word 'ALARM'  Huh

I switched it off & back on again & all seems fine again  Smiley

Anyone have any idea why it did this ?

Maybe something to do with the Alarm Sensing Function?

Cheers Spanners.... I've read the page & noted that it points to the 'vehicle alarm sense connection'....but what does this mean ?

About a month ago, the alarm went off twice in a week for no reason after being double locked. Both times, in the early hours...much to the annoyance of my neighbours  Roll Eyes

When going out & checking the car, there was no obvious reason....& because it hasn't done it since, then I assumed that it was a fly or something locked in the car that was setting off the sensors  Undecided

But since the radio displayed..'ALARM'..then I'm starting to worry  Huh

JC, I have never seen anything about this on the site but as I'm sure you know the bonnet switch is a frequent source of 'alarm' problems and the boot likewise. Could it be there is a connection to the alarm system from the radio and that 'wire' is loose??. Have you had the radio out recently?.  Regards, Mike.

Can't be any more specific I'm afraid buddy. I just happened to notice it recently when I was adjusting my own radio prior to a long journey.

Hope you sort it anyway. I reckon Mike's probably as close as you'll get.

I've checked the wiring to the radio & nothing is loose.

Also I did give the bonnet switch a clean after the alarm went off for the second time & haven't had the alarm go off since, but this was before the radio threw a wobbly.

It's only ever done it the once, so fingers crossed, it was a glitch & wont happen again  Undecided

Spanners....I pulled the radio out & as I didn't see a face staring back at me, then I think we can rule out that particular theory  Wink  Grin
