Autoglym do a good alloy wheel cleaner - spray on, leave a minute and wash off with brush. Wax them afterwards to keep the build up to a minimum! Dave

I use a worn out pan scourer, the ones with the sponge on the other side and make sure it is a cheepie and quite soft. With some warm water and car shampoo, it works a treat. It gets off all of the road kak and does the wheels no harm. my wheels are virtually unmarked so I take good care of them. You can also ues the same green scrubby thing on the chrome tail pipe, inside and out. once a week I clean the tail pipe in this way and then I give it a smear of WD to complete the job The green scrubby thing can also be used in conjunction with WD in the engine bay and with an old toothbrush to get into the smaller areas. Wipe clean when finished and presto hey...clean engine and related bits. Never use a Karcher...you will kill the engine big time

Those of us who are the old codgers here may remember Alexie Sayle doing a song and dance number entitled "Ello John gotta new motah". Of course, you young whippersnappers need to be ejerkatid in such pleasurable delites and savories ..............so now you know

Hi mate i use wonder wheels give them a good spray leave for a couple of mins then wipe of i also use an old toothbrush to get of stuborn stains. Then i use Armorall carwash wipes on the front wheels it stops the brake dust sticking to the wheels to much making it a little easier wipe of the next you clean them...

Slightly off topic I know but for the tyres I use boot polish. Applied exactly as you would when doing your boots. It makes the tyres look like new without the high gloss that most of the silicone based products leave behind.
