Is it possible? whats involved? the problem is i have is i found a good (hopefully!) donor car (lower miles) problem is it is a manual! will it fit on to the auto box ? can i split the auto box and just change the engine without lifting the auto box out with the engine? in other words leave the auto box in place, can i just take the clutch off and put the convertor in it's place? Any help please, it's a 98 2-3 auto with a stuffed engine! Bob

Much easier just to swap the engine - you may need to swap the flywheel to take the torque converter instead of a clutch. Any bits like kick-down linkage etc... can easily be swapped over from the old engine to the replacement. Converting to manual would involve at the very least swapping the pedal boxes and probably quite a lot of wiring mods.
