Brake pad wear sensors & bulb failure indicati

OK, dumb question time... Changed all 4 discs / pads this week, surprised to find none of the old pads I took out had wear sensors - probably beacause there are no electrical connections...annoying as I'd purchased new pads with wear sensors which were a bit dearer than pads without so had to cut the wires off. Why did Ford drop the pad wear sensor feature ? My old Granada Scorpio had them, just seems like a step backwards. Also there does not seem to be a bulb failure indication on the Scorpio which I had on my old Granada Scorpio, just thought it strange that this no longer features.

The 12v 2.9 doesn't have the sensors either. I too had to cut the wires off. I had them on my old Granada 2.4i though. They dropped quite a few useful bits on the Scorpio (like the rear high level brake light, but i still think the Scorpio Ultima is a superb bit of kit. Mine isn't for sale anyway!!

You can utilise the sensor wires by fitting a 12v led somewhere on your dash, run a 12v positive supply to it and then run a wire from the pad to the other side of the led, when the pads wear down the sensor wire would earth the led, and hey presto! time to fit new pads again. Just a thought pete Just thought though, you've cut the wires off

Or you could add 4 leds, one for each pad to have a more complex system.....or just leave them as they are

My Scorpio Ultima est has a high level brake light, they were an optional extra. The wiring is their even on a non equipped car if you want to retrofit one. The Granada did not have a high level brake light.
