RPM related radio interference

Okay its like this one of my current intermitant faults is a high frequency click on the radio. the clicks get faster with the revs and its almost a buzz anywhere near 100mph.
My first thoughts were ht leads arking out but they are in good condition. what I have noticed is some of the insulation on the engine loom is brittle and decaying.
The fault is exactly the same in hot dry weather as rainy damp conditions.
Does anyone have any experience of failing coil packs and tell tale signs?
Or for that matter any other ideas.
edit
Forgot to mention ocasionaly the arbag abs light stay on for a while after starting the car, am I right thinking this is also a symptom of engine loom failure?

Failing coil packs, in my experience, usually start with a slight hesitation/misfire under load, but don't seem to cause any radio interference  Smiley

Alternators are known to cause radio interference though  Smiley

I should also have mentioned that when I first start the car it will tick fine if I dont drive it.
But if I drive or even move it six foot as soon as the revs drop to what should be tickover it willl stall.
This only happens when the car is cold. In other words once it has reached normal operating temp it ticks over no probs. Huh

Hi Al,
possibly faulty IACV or FRPR. Have you scanned it?

You need to determine whether it is alternator noise or ignition noise. At tick over ignition will be a much sharper ticking noise and alternator more of a buzz. It also might be nothing at all to do with either system, but could be a problem of your ariel.
