Alright All

I have just spent about £500 fixing up my Scorpio 2.3 Ultima, as my last post over vented discs, had all new discs, pads, shocks, new inlet manifold, service. Car running like a dream since all this until today. Going down motorway and overdrive light started flashing, suspected usual flt, MAF sensor requires cleaning. For quick fix stopped car turned off restarted and continued on my way, only to notice engine revs at about 3200 at 70MPH. Overdrive was switched on, no light on dash, also was not flashing. Looks like I have lost my overdrive gear, the car has been left to cool and still no good. Any ideas will be a great help. Thanks all

hi there

have you checked the fluid level (while hot)?

don't disconnect the battery (if you can help it) as you want to keep the error code made by the flashing o/d light.

post your location, maybe a member nearby has a obd-2 lead.

Informed by a "good" autoshop no doubt??  Grin
No codes found at all??

When I was dropping a spare 24v box in at the local autoshop for Tintin's car the guy came out to meet me, listened to my car, shook his head and told me he could tell me from there what was wrong with MY AUTOBOX!!! Its still going strong!!
He dissapeared quick when i told him I was only in to drop off a box  Grin

Ellogg you can pick up a second hand one fairly cheaply
YES I know you might be buying one that lasts a month but £1000 is likely more than your cars worth!

A 24v box is an alternative to the 2.3 box but not the 2.0 as it has less brake bands

Ellogg, with a thousand pound - I CAN SHIP YOU ONE - A Brand NEW 2.3 DOHC A4LDE box from
Finland!

I think it's rather expensive.Unless it includes the work too.  I think I could arrange you a brand new
A4LDE box at around 500 pounds + shipping. And It is honestly a brand new, never used, factory
built Ford A4LDE for 2.3 DOHC engines. No idea how much the shipping would cost though.

Edit: I have a friend who has one. He bought it for his Cossie
and found out that it's a no, no!

Edit2: I've heard about a transfer solenoid inside the
box that could be failing, but this is second hand info. A
guy up north in Finland had the same problem, no 4th
gear, took it to Ford and they put it into the FDS2000 and
came back with that explanation. Costs around 40 euros +
work here, so it might be worth trying?
