hi folks, durin a 1000 round mile trip to Devon my beloved scorp felt as if someone switched off the ignition for a fraction of a second. this happened at low revs doing 70 a couple of times and under hard acceleration just over a tonne a couple of times also. a friend suggested it could be my auto box . I have the 24v, cheers.

Have you checked the fluid in your autobox? Did the traction control light come on when this happened?

I never noticed the traction control lighting up. . .
as for the coil, do you mean the ignition coil I guess. this may be the drama.
I will have the fluid checked real soon , great idea. thanks guys. more suggestions welcome.

Yep, I was talking about the ignition coils  Smiley

My experience with a bad coil was that the car seemed to 'miss a beat' every now & then, usually while under load, but did it at high cruising speed as well, but never noticed on tickover  Smiley

Dan, THIS may help as it has, at the bottom of the page, a picture of the sort of damage you could find on a coil pack.  That'll keep 'er indoors' busy!. Grin. Mike

Even though the coil pack/packs on the Cossie are different to the 2.0/2.3, they still serve the same purpose....to supply a good voltage to the spark plugs  Smiley
