Go Faster Stripes????

Hi,
New to site but had Scorpio now since October 06. 
It's a 2.0L Auto Ultima saloon in dark aubergine.
Absolutely beautiful car to drive and was to look at until a Punto stuffed into the side of it in January. 
The insurance wrote it off and gave me £900 but I bought it back off them for a mere £50 and put a door and bumper on for £150.
Anyway, when I bought it I was new to the Scorpio thing and the guy selling it said the stripes on the side (2 white pin stripes) were a factory item. I always thought stripes were put on a car to cover bad panel alignment after a crash but all the panels are really straight.
Only ever seen stripes on one and that was a limo.
I'm sure someone on here can let me know either way.

I have seen lots of Scorps on my travels, but I have never seen one with stripes. It is the sort of thing you can buy in a car accessory shop.

I've seen a couple of older Scorps with a single pin stripe & they did look very well done (straight)....so I suppose there could have been a few that came out of the factory like that

Just checked the stripes, they are silver 2mm wide and 3mm apart if this helps.
I know it's sad but small things like this bug me, I just like everything to be original.

Are the stripes on top of or under the laquer ?.....one I saw in a car park with a single stripe (looked closely when no-one was looking) had the stripe under the laquer, so looked like an original stripe

The stripes are on top of the lacquer because I can get my nail underneath and start to peel them off.
The door I replaced hasn't got the stripes so I think I'll peel them all off and get T-cutting.
