Remote, one cell or two!

Hi all, Some while ago, a few of you were discussing the remote and had found it works well with just one cell, a 2032 - rather than the 2x 2016's suggested in the handbook - both cell types are 3v. The difference being a single cell providing the remote with just 3v and the 2x in series with 6v. Well.... Over in the email forum a debate has been going on about this and one individual suggests his remote - bought new from Ford a few years ago for the Scopio in a sealed package, had just one 2032 fitted, hence 3 volt. Now, could it be that the remote was actually designed from the start to be compatible with either 3v or 6v, hence the reason why some of you find it works with a single 2032 installed. A single 2032 will be quite a bit cheaper than 2x 2016's, has more capacity than 2x 2016's and because of the lower voltage - would probably last quite a lot longer anyway. The single cell is also much less fidley to fit and no risk of the spring at the side shorting out the two cells. Yet another Scopio curiosity! Has anyone else bought a new remote recently and found just one cell inside?

| That would be me then! It appears some recently purchased brand new remotes were supplied with two batteries and some with 1 - I would suggest replacing type for type! I am not going to try 6v in my remote as it cost £70 I aint going to experiment with it! Dave

I'm not suggesting you do risk it on 6v - however if the design of your remote limited it to 3v batteries only, I would have expected Mr Ford to supply it along with an ammendment page to replace the page in the cars manual.
