From Cloth to Leather

I have recently changed the seats on my 2.5 TD Saloon from cloth to leather, previous seating arrangement allowed for the Driver to only move his seat up and down by electricity everything else being manual. I read a number of posts on this board relating to fitting fully electrically operated seats. A summary of these posts would appear to be that one positive and one negative wire only was required. This I did utilising the unused six point plug in the floor pan of the passenger side and the power supply for the Up/Down movement on the drivers side. I now have Up/Down, Forward/Backward and of course forward and backward tilt on both the driver and passenger side. My question would be, given that all these controls are achieved with just two wires, what the hell are all the other wires and plugs that are tucked away under both the drivers and passengers seat? Steve

Shame, given the weight of the seats and the number of plug connections (5 under the drivers seat) and wiring I thought maybe the seats doubled as full Shiatsu massage chairs. Steve
