As far as rim size goes,i,ve seen members with 19" wheels with 35 profile tyres with just a slight bit of fettling to the arch lip .Companys do produce lowered suspention kits for them, cant quite remember who though .Im sure someone will be along shortly to tell you who

| The stock/reference size is 205/65R15. With 185/65R15 you will get a 4% speedometer error compared with the stock size. With 195/65 the error is only 2%. The MOT might have some rules of "error" allowed. But what I'm sure of is that you can under no circumstances go below the load index. The scorpio needs a minimum of 89 based on the weight (saloon, for the estate it's 91 I suspect based on the gross weight differences). 195/65R15 typically has 91 and 205/65R15 has 94. I believe 185/65R15 typically has 88, which is too little. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire_code Oh, and I run mine with 205/65R15 in the winter, and 225/50R16 for the summer tires.

A few questions pops up... Will anything else be affected by the speedometer error? Will going below the load index risk exploding the tyre? //Snowy

Okey. A little update. Took the time to check out the tyres on the scorp an noticed somthing. In the front, where the MOT guy said i had crappy tyres and should change them until next season, its mounted 185/65 R15 and on the rear rims (where i looked earlier) its mounted 195/65 R15, and those are in quite better condition then the front tyres, maybe because the front tyres takes plenty more of the cars weight then the rear ones. I guess you never fully can trust a garage with anything... ? The summer tyres that came with the car is 205/65R15 and seems okej enoghf... //Snowy

| What you need to look for is a marking after the dimensions. It may be that they are so called reinforced tires (higher load index), then it's OK. You get a pair of 195/65R15 for next winter, and you should be fine.

| Well, wintertire season is soon over, until then avoid extra heavy load. Now might BTW be a good time to buy the front pair, when tire dealers get rid of last winters stock. But do also check what your registration says about front axis mass. If it is below 1120kg, there is no cause for panic.
