Ball joints

Recently noticed an occasional clunking noise from front and sometimes got a strange feeling of the front wheels being 'loose'. Checked the suspension and had mechanic look at it - balljoints on their way out. Question is - is it just a replacement of the balljoint bushes or does it require the both wishbones to be replaced. See here and this and this. So, what to do? Whatever, I'm also thinking of replacing all bushes and getting a spare set of nuts/bolts - would you agree? Thanks Paul

hi paul the balljoint is part of the wishbone. if it's worn, then the wishbone needs changed (along with the rear bush). it's a expensive job, but makes a big difference in 'feel' of the steering. hth

| Yep, £180 for the full set from here. Ouch - but worth it to keep the beaut running (and getting through the next MOT)
