Scorpio differential ratios

Greetings The Fellowship of Scorpionists! My 2.3 DOHC project is rusting in the garage. Currently I'm in the process of modifying the rear break pipes to match the abs system ("it's an uppgrade from -95 to 97+") and at the same go renewing the rear springs. The diff. I've got in this unholy mixture of Cossie chassis and 2.3 DOHC lump+A4LDE is from Cossie. I need to replace it with another one with a smaller ratio in order to get better torque at lower rpm and hopefully fix the erratic behaviour of the A4LDE at low rpm. So I do have a genuine 96+ 2.3 DOHC + manual diff in my hands, but I also have three others as well. Two are from -86 and -91 Granada 4x4's and one from a -92 Granada 24V (Scorpio). I'd like to know what's the diff. ratio in those ones. Anyway got an idea?

Hi Pappa, I came across your post whilst thinking through replacing my diff. The "rear axle spec." page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/rearaxle/RAxleSpecs.pdf) on the site shows a number of different ratios. The "rear axle overhaul" page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/rearaxle/RAxleOverhaul.pdf) shows how to interpret the details on the little metal tag attched to the diff.'s back plate. What puzzles me is that my existing (very noisy) diff.'s tag shows a ratio of 3.91:1 which is different to all the ratios quoted in the Ford specs. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Mike
