Hiya all. i have just bought my first ever Scorpio and after looking through what it does, (and that equals bloody boat loads!!) I would like to ask the enlightened of you out there a couple of questions. 1. I have read about the reversing sensors, but cant find any and 2. couldn't see headlamp washers! Are these extra options? I know its only a couple of little things compared as to what this beast has but thought i would ask. I will also be looking for bits to bring it back up to its fantastic level and would ask if any of you could point me in the right direction for decent priced parts. Oh, It's an R reg 2.3 ultima estate. Ta

Hi, welcome to the site . It all depends on model, reversing sensors were an option on the later 'facelift' cars as far as I know, headlamp washers were fitted to some later cars. All depends on whether yours is a facelift model or not, some info on the main site about the cosmetic differences between early and later cars. If it's all chrome trim and bug eye looking it's an early model, if it's got tinted style headlights and no chrome rim on the grille with the Ford oval in the centre on the slats then it's a facelift Regards, Bruce.

Hi Deedee, When you say the right direction for parts I fitted an after market reversing sensor kit from ebay. Wiring was dead easy with the provided diagram it had a little screen that gave the distance etc. If you do go for one make sure you get one with the bumper cutting tool so that the holes in the bumper are exactly right for the sensors. Hope that helps Al Oh, And welcome

Thanks for welcome and replies. have done some more digging and have found that these were extras on top yet again! The bits I will trying to get are: New front bumper drivers door trim rubber that runs under drivers door and boot load cover. correct batteries for remote (or will any do?) I am also looking at getting xeon bulbs and roof bars but have found these on ebay Oh, and if anyone knows how to get the horrible yucky smelly ashtray tray back in, I would be most grateful!

The batteries that you require for the remote are CR 2032 X2 Maxwell ones are good as some of the cheaper ones do not seem to last as well . Expect to pay about £2.00 each for them . I threw a drivers door trim away last week Sorry ....

Some, perhaps all of the remotes are suggested to work just as well on one double thickness cell (3v) as two of the thinner cells in series (6v). Some of the operator manuals sugest two, some suggest just one thicker cell. So worth trying a single thicker cell first. An after market reversing sensor kit would be more sensible, look on Ebay. I paid about £20 for mine and it works well. It has 4 heads, a small screen with LED's and shows a figure to give you an actual distance from an object, plus a warning tone. I fitted the screen at the bottom of the passenger side A pillar/ on top of the dash corner, so I can watch screen and nearside door mirror. You can drill the bumber and fish the wires through it then into the boot. I also bought some touch up paint on Ebay and painted the four heads to match the bumper.
