Surely the mondeo is front wheel drive the offset will be all wrong, you could use wheel spacers, but your stressing the hub, don't fancy that at a 140.

scorpio 4 stud and mondeo 4 stud are both 49.5 offset (turbo) alloys off a st24 mondeo will fit a scorpio

I read your post an ran out the front door to have look, yer right they look like fwd.ed offsets. Perhaps Ford were thinking of provisioning for a 4x4 version.
