Hi..i wanted to order a new barel from fordparts and need double check the sequence re the numbers
 
am i right in saying that it should be T to signify the black plastic end  with the numbers running down to the tip
 
So T 342222  would mean the 3 is at the handpiece black plastic end......I can read the cuts just unsure which way the sequence is  meant to be specified.....ant advice appreciated

I think you are correct in your assumption but any FMD should tell you for certain . just take your key in and ASK , ( nicely )

thanks a million .. I couldnt find the key info as I was looking under ignition
 
however there is sone contradiction the first page showing the key, under "rebuild doorlock" shows the sequence as I expected but in the lock rebuild it says the number starts from the tip
under the para "get your key read"
 
I think thats wrong and thats why I raised this ..I am 99% sure its as per the first article showing the keys

In fact just double checked the first article and that is contradictory  
 
the pictures show the code as I would expect but it says in a para "get your key read" above the pic with the numbers that they are normally read from tip to handle..a tad confused

if it helps anyone, I just got confirmaton from fordparts that the key number is 100% read from the handle towards the tip not as the articles say tip -handle ..prefixed by the letter "T"  maybe thats a signifier to confirm the orientation not sure
 
its very easy to read the cuts which are coded 1-4 one being no cut and 4 being a full depth cut..  not hard to gauge 2/3
