Rear Discs and Calipers

Hello everyone, I have to admit that I don't own a Scorpio myself - have his smaller brother a Mondeo! Thinking about having a big break conversion at the back, and found that the Scorpio uses the same (smaller) rear brake discs as the mondeo. (253mm) At the moment what i am thinking of is using the bigger discs (273mm) and its caliper setup and transplant it over. Are the wheel knuckle the same for both setup? And are they interchangable? Many thanks for any input Phil

Hi Phil! I once tried Mondeo discs into my Scorps Cossie, but they were too SMALL. They did not fit in, but I'm 98% sure that Scorpio 16V brakes are the same as in some Mondeos. Newer Mondeos have gone back to 5 bolt system, so the knuckle would not of course fit. The 273mm sounds a bit like Cossie discs if my memory serves me correctly. Have a closer look at this: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/brakesmanual.htm

Thansk a lot for the reply mate! when you say that they don't fit in - do you mean it's too small in diameter (well 253 vs 273) or will not fit on at all onto the wheel hub? It's the cossie rear discs that i am after - and mine's the 4 stud pattern which is why i was lead towards here!

The Mondeo discs did not fit into my Cossie because the disc center was too small. I don't mean the wheel knuckle, it'll be just fine. My native language is not english, so I can't describe it better, but you would not have trouble fitting Cossie discs into Mondeo, but I reckon you would have to take the calibers or at least their mountings as well. Better to try them and see what needs to be done.
