front exhaust mounting/transmission crossmember.

When changing my prop-shaft this morning, I noticed that the front exhaust mounting that is supposed to be attached to the transmission crossmember had broken completely leaving both the exhaust and the transmission to flap about independently of each other.

Since I'm trying to pursue a sticky problem with vibration in this area, I was wondering what effect (if any), the failure of this mounting would be likely to have.

I'm aware that I'm grasping at straws here but having gone so far, I don't want to leave any stone unturned.

Thanks

Mike

Yes, I'd have thought an insecure transmission would have vibration issues.  Undecided

After putting up with a slight vibration between 40-60 mph  for 4 years,  I  replaced the exhaust recently,  and presto-hey,   the rumblies  disappeared.

Thanks Mr F, it would be ironic if that's all it was. It certainly can't do any harm to replace it - I'll see what it costs
