Does the 2.0 Cylinder Head fit a 2.3?

Pete Coyle has offered me a cylinder head from his old 2.0 for my 2.3. Can people confirm that the 2.0 head will fit a 2.3 and work properly.

I looked at the specs for both at http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/technical.htm and saw that there were many differences which made me cautious. However, these may be inconsequential differences; the trouble is that I just don't have the experience to know.

Can you let me know what you think. I asked Pete if he minded chatting it through with you guys and he said he didn't.

Thanks

The 2.0 8v head is different, but as far as I know the 2.0 16v & 2.3 16v heads are the same  Smiley

Thanks guys,

Forgive me this, I don't want to appear pedantic BUT, has anyone done this OR can someone else give me a second opinion.

Not that I doubt Jonnycab or Pete BUT if I do it I don't want the whole thing blowing up and destroying itself - hehe!

Thanks

I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that the 2.0 16v head is used on the 2.3 engine block by some racers to get better performance out of the engine (or is it the 2.3 on the 2.0) either way I believe that they are interchangable

Thanks for that Guys,

I do like the look of that head Bizzay1! I've just been to have a look at my exhaust manifold bolts; I figured that after 314,000 miles I'd have no hope but they look in good nick, I just have to invest in a long 13mm socket now to check - HOWEVER, one of them was actually loose!! THis might explain a slight niff of exhaust gas in the cabin when idling at lights etc - lol!

Anyway, whilst out there I thought I'd check the cranking pressure on good ol' No. 4 cylinder. For those of you who have been following my saga this last week, you'll be interested to note that, having started at 6 bar, the pressure went down to 4 bar after my attempt at "lapping". BUT this morning, after several hundred miles of chauffeuring (if that's how you spell it) it is now registering at 8.5 bar - that was a surprise - give it another week......hehe!

Anyway, I'm now going to do what I planned all along and lift off the cam cover and see if I can get a feeler gauge between ol' "black" valve and his closest friend, the shiny new hydraulic tappet. Well between said friend and cam lobe anyway.

Will let you know.

Thanks

Mike

PS. Bidding is up to £300 on e-bay for the car now - see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESE LX:IT&item=120289914731

PPS. Ok, I now realise that you can't ever get any kind of feeler between a cam-follower and a cam-lobe. Of course, that's the whole purpose the hydraulic bit I suppose - take up the slack. Oh well, another fine theory....

Mike, just seen the car on eBay, looks a stunner, aubergine is my fav colour Smiley

Been following your posts. If you're getting 8 bar and the car is running reasonably well then I'd leave it alone, for that price let the new owner sort it...at least you're being up front about it, they're getting a good car for peanuts.

That's a serious amount of mileage you do but the car looks better than mine did at a third of that, thought mine was tidy for the age Smiley

Best of luck mate.

Regards, Bruce.

I'm sure for your own satisfaction you'd like to finish the job, but I think putting on your sensible hat and following Bruces advice is the right way to go Grin
