Hi, im having trouble with my auto box not selecting correctly. i have found that if i select 3 on the gear select the box will pull off corectly and go through to third gear correctly. Is this what should happen when the 3 is selected from stand still? many thanks for any advice, jaffa.

YES Selecting 3 is has the same effect as selecting D but the gear box will not go into 4th gear or O/D  If you select 2 then it will start off in 2 as for icy roads etc ......

Hi, when i put it into D it tends to pick whatever gear it wants to. Sometimes its ok then others its all over the place. when i put it into 3 its fine and when it reaches 3rd i select d to put it into 4th. Do you think that the tr sensor could be at fault? jaffa.

Assume this is a 2.9 12v ?

Have you checked the fluid level and colour of the fluid ?

What's the mileage ? Maybe a fluid and filter change might help.

Hi, yes it is a 2.9 12v and already changed the oil and filter but no difference but using 3 its fine so i am using that instead then shift into D when on motorway,or long dual carridgeway.
