hi there

it's the size of them that's different.

the 2.3 uses 260mm vented fronts.

the 24v uses 278mm vented fronts, iirc.

Uhmmm Thanks for your prompt reply but a few years ago I had a couple of discs given to me by a member of this forum (Forgotten the name right now) all I know he lives at Evesham and is well into the mechanics of Scorpios they had been used but plenty of meat left on them, the point is when I offered them up to the calipers I found them to thick and this was without any disc brakes attatched as I thought maybe I had not wound back far enough I am interested in your view now, or is it me having a senior moment. Many Thanks Kenboy

hi there

i can only think the piston wasn't wound in enough as without pads, the gap would be big enough most discs.

here's the specs.... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/brake/BrakeSpecs.pdf

Kenboy, Gozz has a point  Wink

Most saloons had solid rear discs fitted. Vented discs were only usually fitted to estates, but some later facelift saloons (like mine  Wink) do have vented rear discs fitted. The vented discs are thicker, so if want to replace the solid discs with vented discs then you'll have to replace the calipers as well  Smiley

Sorry for late reply the car in question has non vented discs fitted, probably standard for this car 1997 2.3 saloon and I am still mystyfied, perhaps they were given to me in good faith but for another model as they are definately to thick, btw just how thick should new discs be? Many Thanks  Kenboy

Mystery solved, the discs I had given to me are for the V6 Model, which are no good to me but if any one can use them then they are yours for free with very little wear and a full set.

Many Thanks  Kenboy

mailto:CLICKAMOTORPART@AOL.COM For you Scorpio Mike But do not go to him through Ebay use this Email Address anyway back to business as I previously mentioned I have recieved these discs (Extremely Prompt) and the front ones are now fitted But I have a problem with the rears. The spec advises 253mmx20mm but to my horror I discoverd that my rear discs are of the solid type there is an ID embossed on them and it is as follows 95 GB 2A 315 FA 9mm Can some kind soul  please solve this for me ie what spec should I ask when ordering correct ones.

Kenboy.
As far as I know there was only one type of solid disc fitted to the rear of the Scorp, therefore you just need to ask for non vented rear discs for Scorpio 95-98
