Hi again Folks,
Can anyone tell me how to disable the alarm please?
It's actually on the Mondeo but I understand they are the same as the Scorp. It goes off on its own.  I've disconnected the alarm horn and bridged the bonnet switch all to no avail. I've pulled the fuse but that loses me the horn and hazard lights and MOT is due. Thanks in anticipation.

The alarm horn is usually just behind the battery , Well it is on the scorpio, just disconnect that and it stops the dying beast sound....!

Thanks for that mate. Yeah,done it already(behind boot panel on Mondeo). Problem is that the flashers come on on their own and if you are driving along at the time, it makes you a tad unpopular!
So would still like to know how to disable it completely.
Funnily enough, I have seen the same question asked regularly on other forums but never seen it answered. It seems to be a common problem.

Only way I know of is the disconnect the PATS system but I am sure others on here know a great deal more that me .

It's related so I'll ask in this thread.
I have taken my battery out for an overnight charge. When I put it back, the alarm goes on, and cannot be shut with the remote as usual (probably they need reprogramming). Does anybody know how this is done without having the alarm draining the battery again? And a method that is quick is preferred, to reduce neighbourhood disturbance.

Thanks! Worked out nicely. The remotes needed some reprogramming. Took me however a while using the guide to realize that all remotes must be reprogrammed, whenever one needs reprogramming, and that the remote unlock button of each must be pressed in sequence, not simultaneously. With the two keys I had, it just kept toggling with which worked and which didn't. And only the red key was good to program them. Quite clever actually, as I can imagine many nasty scenarios what one could do if the car is not yours, but the remote is.
Contrary to the quide, removing the battery from the remote does not seem to erase car-remote synchronization for me. When I got the car, the other remote lacked batteries and it worked instantly when I inserted new ones days later. My conclusion of this is that pressing the button when out of range (or key signal to weak for car to react, but enough to power the key chip) seems to be the #1 likely cause of the car losing the remotes.
Hope this helps someone else too. The car was model Jan. 1995.

It uses a rolling code system, so that someone reciveing the code and reproducing it, cannot then gain access. Each time you press the button the code changes to the next one in the sequence, if not received by the car the car eventually gets out of sync with the code. I think you get to press the remote ten times out of range, before they get to be out of sync..
