Autobox gear changes

I've noticed a difference in the way the autobox changes gear between the wifes 2.3 estate & my 2.3 saloon.

Difference being that when you put your foot down in my saloon then the kickdown is practically instant, but in the wifes Scorp there is a small delay (a bit like changing gear with a clutch) before it kicks down.

Seeing as the wifes car is a '97 pre-facelift, then would this indicate that the car may need the software update that the facelift has ?  Undecided

My '97 pre-facelift 2.3 used to pause briefly, start to accelerate, then kick down, then accelerate – till I changed the Fuel Cut-off Loom.

Cheers Tompion for the advice, but the fuel cut off loom in the wifes Scorp looks almost brand new. I'm reckoning that it was replaced by the previous owner along with the inlet manifold, as that is also obviously not that old as the inside of the t-stat housing is still solid plastic & hasn't got that gungy soft brown flaky coating that can obviously only be caused by years worth of coolant running through it  Wink
