It's a sad fact that when they decided to phase out the Scorpio they used whatever was availble for the various trim levels and if they didn't have any it wasn't fitted. Sounds like yours is the same as mine.. no sunvisor illumination. They were fitted to the earlier models. The wiring will be there as part of the rearview mirror wiring and the visors should be capable of plugging in and working. Notice I said "should" because as we all know, nothing can be taken for granted on these machines that we all love (sometimes).

Ford stopped putting the illumination on the visors in Nov 1997 when the brought out the facelift car. This was also devoid of the door and kerb lights as well as radiator level indicator (they even left off the LED on the circuit boards for the speedo clocks)

I fitted illuminated visors to both sides of my red Cossie a few years ago. (Divers side was a German passenger one!!) The wiring was actually solder jointed to the interior light wiring and the join was made above the drivers side grab handle above the headlining. (Grey and brown wires as I Recall)

The best mod is to get a pair of visors from a Focus (with the slidey opening covers over the mirrors); take out the focus mounting brackets (they just pull out) replace them with the ones from a Scorpio and fit them. The are the same shape and size (almost) and are a very good factory look option!

Baz, my wifes 97 P reg ultima estate may be an exception to the rule, as it seems to have the same spec as my facelift....no illuminated sun visors, no door lights & no kerb (puddle) lights  Roll Eyes
