Swap battery while running?

Would it be ok to swap a battery in a Scorp while the car is running in order to charge a totally flat spare battery? Have done this on others cars in past without problem, but understand Scorp elecs might be more sensitive. Thanks

While were on the subject, are jump leads ok to use on a Scorp or is using an external charger the only option?

No, I wouldn't do it either Comparable to installing extra memory in your computer while it was powered up. Big no no...

Have heard, that runing the car on a flat battery (connected) alone, will blow the alternator rectifier circuit within minutes because of the overload. Jump leads to another battery is the same, you have equally many amperes to fill.

Unless there is already something seriously wrong with the alternator, connecting a flat battery to it should do no harm. Connect the flat battery via jumper leads to the good battery in the car, start it up run it for good while and then swap the batteries over with the engine stopped.

Could I do the opposite of this, e.g. Jump the car from a strong external battery having previously swapped the flat one into the car with the engine off? Thinking that I could then leave engine running and take car for a short run to give the flat some decent charge. That shouldn't do any harm should it?

I think that'll be the normal situation when jump leads get used so no it wont do any harm

go and buy a battery charger for 30 quid and you will use it again and again if the scorp electics or alternator go it going to be alot more expensive and a alternator new is over 100notes
