Oil Leak from Electrical Plug

Hi Guys,

I wonder if anyone can tell me what the small plug near the top of the sump is Huh  It has a single crimped wire coming off it and it seems that about a litre of oil has been lost through it. Engine is a 2.9 12v

I am trying to find the FINIS code so that I could perhaps order a new one?

I'm going to take it off and inspect it, maybe tightening it will stop the leak? I hope.   Grin

Just found it, it's the oil pressure switch. Hurrah!

I can confirm it is the oil pressure switch, just at the front of the engine on the nearside .  they are prone to leaks and on a taper thread. be careful tightening it I think it is best to get a new switch. From memory they are not too expensive. Details of which are HERE a;ong with the 12v manual.  There is also a picture of the switch and location at para 18 HERE as well

Thanks for the links Snoopy! Smiley

I've bought a new Oil Pressure Switch but I've spent the last three hours trying to get it to come off. A 24mm socket fits around the switch but it's so tight and very hard to budge. It lies right next to the A/C compressor mountings and is turning into an unexpectedly tough job!

Does anyone has any handy hints on how to remove the switch?

Cheers! ;-D

Thanks again Gozz,

I'll pop down the wholesalers tomorrow and pick up a good spanner set, a socket is too big and cumbersome I've discovered!  Grin

More updates tomorrow, hopefully a success story!

I'm really looking to actually driving my Scorp!

Had to take the Scorp down to Ford  in the end as all I could manage to do was to round the edges  of the bolt. Happy days now! Thanks for all the advice guys!
